Brendan started his career in construction while studying mechanical engineering until he was recruited into a research laboratory focused on fuel cells and gas turbine technology. This path led him to earn his M.S. in Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. He spent 10 years as a hands-on research engineer designing and operating experiments.
With the desire to apply his skills in industry, he began working for a large EPC building solar and battery energy storage projects, then moved into building hydrogen fueling stations and fuel cell microgrids. Having always seen the need for greater efficiencies in the built environment, he began working with Shaffer Building Co. as a mechanical and electrical systems expert bridging the gaps between design, build, and function — ensuring all system installations are properly aligned to the client’s goals.
