Shaffer’s scope included constructability review, estimating, and project scheduling, helping the owner and design team identify potential coordination conflicts and develop a realistic execution plan before committing to construction. The mechanical plan highlights the complexity of reworking HVAC distribution within occupied hospital spaces where air quality, pressure relationships, and temperature control are continuously regulated.
The project addressed aging air handling infrastructure and outdated CAV terminals serving the blood lab, where precise environmental controls are essential for specimen integrity and regulatory compliance.
